The good outer build quality of this bag makes its performance disappointing. The color, material and portability of this case are solid, but it falls short in laptop protection.

(This review is for the non-wheeled 17-inch version (ZLCS-117).)

There's no strap or even pocket to help secure the laptop inside the laptop-holding area of the case. The laptop holding area is, well..... just an 'area' in which to slip the laptop. With no further securing of the computer, it can readily slip or drop out of the bag if the zipper is left open and the bag turns upside down or sideways, etc.

The larger problem from our POV is that there's no cushioning or protection *at all* around the zipper area. This means that 3 out of the 4 side edges of the laptop body have *no cushioning* to protect them from impact or shock. Rather, the laptop edges themselves will absorb any shock from the outside, with solely the thin material of the zipper--and no cushioning!--between the computer and the outside world.

The case's attractive build and form aren't enough to compensate for its inadequate protection of a possibly expensive computer.

This bag is being returned, and I've already ordered (and received) the 17" SOLO Sterling Airport Security-Friendly Laptop Case (CLA314-4) in its stead. So far, I'm satisfied with the SOLO, which combines good form and *very* solid laptop protection, using a velcro strap, additional inner insulating pocket and full protection along all of the computer's sides and edges.

I can only advise that Case Logic redesign its 17" laptop case so that it protects the laptop. (Aside from that (!) the case actually seems well-designed and attractive in terms of form!)

like other's experiences in these reviews, i received one with a defective zipper out of the box. amazon was perfect for returning the item.

the price amazon sells this case for can't be beat for a 17" case of this size and volume.

otherwise, the case's construction seemed ok...but i can't comment on the case's use as i simply returned the item and looked elsewhere as zippers that work are pretty important unfortunately.

I went with this because of other reviews and it appeared to have what I was looking for which was storage and a small footprint. It is light but sturdy. I travel a lot and I am handicapped so the lite weight and small footprint make it good choice. I would look at Case Logic' products.
